The special requirements of a geographically distant continent often require special solutions. Qantas was looking for an aircraft that could finally fly non-stop on its two most important long-haul routes of 16,000 and 17,000 kilometers from Sydney to New York and London. "Project Sunrise" is a project of what an Australian airline has custom ordered from Airbus. Delivery of the first of the twelve ordered units is scheduled to begin in 2025.
