Never say never: the phrase used in song lyrics and movie titles also applies to aviation. After the Covid-19 pandemic kept the world at bay, or rather at home, and airlines decided to ground or retire the super-jumbo A380 in a fight for survival, British Airways was one of the operators of the type that retired the Boeing 747 earlier than planned, but planned to return its fleet of twelve A380 aircraft back to service as quickly as possible. All Superjumbos have been steadily returning to service since 2021, including G-XLEF, the sixth A380 originally delivered to British Airways in 2014. This latest release shows some improvements compared to the last production run: two flat domes have been added to the fuselage, as well as some additional prints such as static port markings on the sides and the Royce logo on all four engines.
