Airbus A400M Atlas French Air Force – ET 4/61 “Squadron Reactivation”

In 2014, the France announced a first transport squadron equipped with the A400M Atlas as operational, followed by a second unit in September 2021, the Escadron de Transport 4/61. The unit had been inactive following the retirement of its Transall C-160s in August 2017, and was until then considered the most decorated transport unit in the French Air Force, partly due to its missions in Southeast Asia. The reactivation of the squadron was commemorated with a special livery containing the unit’s red bull insignia on this A400M, the 18th Atlas delivered to the French Air Force.
