TC-JAU started life as N1339U which was the Douglas Friendship 72 aircraft. And was then delivered to THY in December 1972 and was named Istanbul. In December 1987 Bogazici Air Transport leased the aircraft until it was returned to THY in February 1989 and was then retired. November 18989 saw a new lease of life for this aircraft and was converted to a DC-10-10F and was purchased by FEDEX and was registered N68058. March 1992 saw a new owner with First Chicago Leasing Corporation purchasing the aircraft and then was leased back to FEDEX in March 1992 until now.
