Amilcar – it was a little-known car company from France, founded in July 1921 in Paris. The firm made its first public appearance in Paris in October 1921. Amilcar designed its small cars, known as Voiturettes, in accordance with the law to meet the motor tax class of 100 francs (per year). The prescribed weight was 350 kg, seating for two people and a maximum engine of 1100 cc. Continued further development of this type of vehicle resulted in the 'CGS' type in 1924 with a 1074cc side-steering engine and, as a novelty, brakes on all four wheels. The sequence of letters "CGS" stood for "Chassis Grand Sport".
