Product description
High-quality metal model of the BelugaXL - XL#3 cargo aircraft of the airline Airbus Industries. The model is detailed according to the real model. The model has an opening front loading door.
Because Airbus needed additional cargo capacity, especially for the series production of the A350 XWB, and because the highly used Beluga fleet had been running out of steam for years, the aircraft manufacturer began studies in early 2010 with the aim of developing a successor, which resulted in concrete plans drawn up in 2014. The A330-200F was chosen as the basis for the new airport and Welsh transport components. Bremen was the main reason for choosing the smaller version of the A330. At 63 metres long and 19 metres high, the Beluga XL is a good six and six metres longer than its predecessor, the A300-600ST, with a fuselage that is 1.1 metres wider and a cargo volume of 2,209 m³, almost 1,000 m³ more. This was exactly what was required to be able to transport, for example, two A350 wings instead of one in the future. Externally, the XL is most easily recognised by its “smile”, which further emphasises the whale-like appearance. F-GXLI is the third of the current six BelugaXL transporters and entered service in October 2020. The die-cast metal model is built with interchangeable plastic cargo doors, allowing it to be displayed with the front hatch open or closed.
