The 747-200B was a basic passenger version with increased fuel capacity and more powerful engines; entered service in February 1971. For the first three years of production, the -200 was equipped with Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7 engines (originally the only engine available). Range with a full load of passengers started at more than 9,300 km and with later engines increased to 11,000 km.
