Government aircraft of the Republic of South Korea carry the call sign "Code One". The second and youngest aircraft of this type is the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental. Originally delivered to Korean Air in 2017, it was decommissioned in 2021 and received extensive VIP equipment for government purposes, along with new communications and security and self-defense systems. It replaced the 747-400, which had been in service since 2010 and was the first aircraft to be fully utilized and equipped for government contracts. Prior to 2010, the government leased planes from Asiana or Korean Air, which then carried the presidential seal. After the end of official use, they were returned to normal commercial operation.
