The Bombardier CRJ/Mitsubishi CRJ or CRJ series (for Canadair Regional Jet) is a family of regional jet aircraft introduced in 1991 by Bombardier Aerospace. The CRJ is manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace, with production of the first generation CRJ, the CRJ100/200, beginning in 1991, and the second generation CRJ, the CRJ700 series, beginning in 1999.
The CRJ program was acquired by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI RJ Aviation Group) in a deal that closed on 1 June 2020. Bombardier subsequently completed assembly of the backlog on behalf of Mitsubishi.
Bombardier claims it is the world's most successful family of regional aircraft. Production ended in December 2020 after 1,945 were built.
