The Citroën C3 concept car presented in 1998 announced a model that would be released in 2002, clearly inspired by the forms of the 2CV: a new vintage operation that had already involved, or would have done soon, other manufacturers such as Fiat, Volkswagen or BMW (with Mini). The production C3 was equipped with engines from 1100 to 1600cc, and was a good commercial success, despite finishes not up to par. A transformable 2-door model, the C3 Pluriel, was also produced, but all the modular and demountable architecture, not entirely practical, was not well received by the public. C3 and C3 Pluriel went out of production in 2010, giving way to the second series of the C3, with more tense and perhaps less fascinating lines. The C3 II series, with engines from 1000 to 1500cc, was produced until 2017. On the II series, Citroën also applied the Picasso minivan concept, obtaining a specific bodywork produced from 2009 to 2018. From 2016 it was the turn of the III series of the C3, which comes with some features of the C4 Cactus. The platform derives instead from the Peugeot 208, with a rather convincing result. A mini-SUV, the C3 Aircross is also included in the range. The C3 was also entered in world class rallyes, as it happened with the Xsara and the C4, Citroën clinching no less than 9 titles between 2004 and 2012. Not bad...
