High-quality metal model of the Hitachi ZX490LCH-6 crawler excavator in detailed design.
The ZX490LCH-6 crawler excavator replaces the ZX470LCH-5, which has now been discontinued. TMC Scalemodels started again with a brand new set of 3D data and produced everything from scratch, which actually results in a number of small differences throughout the model, while the main and obvious differences between the two generations include the upper engine bay and extended side. panel.
The main body of the model features increased dimensions with a new range of safety rails, all precisely fitted and made of metal for a quality feel. The top engine cover has been enlarged with a hinged cover that lifts up to reveal the engine's internal components, while the side grilles are slotted, allowing the internal radiator panels to be seen. An access ladder and service platform have been added along one side of the body, and the cab now has 180-degree opening doors with a highly detailed color interior that includes a Hitachi-badged driver's seat, joystick levers, tracking levers, pedals and a hydraulic safety cut-off lever, not to mention grab rail and structured floor surface.
The track pads are now triple grouser and spin nicely with tensioned guide wheels providing enough resistance. The range of motion of the digging rig has been captured well, appearing to exceed that of the ZX470, while the new routing and implementation of hydraulic lines once again gives the model a different look. The bucket is commonly referred to as a sand bucket and has raised panels on the sides with the Hitachi branding and a straight cutting edge. Additional hydraulic lines have been added to the shaft to allow a range of aftermarket accessories to be fitted with armor hoses implemented convincingly.
When the original Hitachi ZX470LCH-5 was released it highlighted a level of detail not often seen in 1:50 scale models and the updated ZX490LCH-6 continues the theme with equally impressive levels of detail and realism.
