The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was an American fighter aircraft of World War 2. The British Commonwealth and the Soviet Air Force used the name Tomahawk and for later variants the name Kittyhawk. The first flight took place on 14th October 1938, it saw service in 1940. More than 13,700 units were built between 1939 and 1944.
