The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is the last aircraft from Douglas Commercials (DC). On August 29, 1970, it took off from Long Beach for its first flight. The three-engine DC-10 entered service in August 1971. With the DC-10 model, McDonnell Douglas became one of the manufacturers of large-capacity transport aircraft. In addition to the main version of the DC-10-10, the manufacturer offered various other versions of civilian aircraft for the transport of people or cargo and military aircraft. He achieved great success primarily with the DC-10-30 long-haul version of the aircraft. The DC-10-40 version was equipped with new engines. In December 1988, the production of the DC-10 was terminated after 446 units were produced in favor of the MD-11.
