The Ferrari 312 B3, driven by Niki Lauda, clinched in important victory in the 1974 Spanish Grand Prix. In that event the Austrian driver set an impressive hat trick, clinching the pole position, the fastest lap and the final win. Second came Clay Regazzoni at the wheel of the other 312 B3, third the eventual championship winner, Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi at the wheel of the Ford Cosworth-powered McLaren. The 312 B3 was a competitive car that year, yet the team didn’t manage the rivalry between Lauda and Regazzoni, leaving the title to Emerson Fittipaldi. The B3 was nonetheless an important step towards Ferrari’s comeback to the top.
