The Ford Escort is a small family car produced by Ford of Europe between 1968 and 2000. There were six generations in total spread over three basic platforms, starting with the original rear-wheel drive Mk.1/Mk.2 (1968–1980), front-wheel drive "Erika" Mk.3/Mk.4 (1980–1990) and the final version CE-14 Mk.5/Mk.6 (1990–2002). Its successor – Ford Focus It was launched in 1998, but the final generation of the Escort was phased out, and in 2002 production of the panel van ended in favor of the Ford Transit Connect.
