High-quality metal model of the Hawker Hurricane MK military aircraft. Ia V7101, F/Lt George Burges, No. 69 Squadron, RAF, Malta, May-June 1941.
The Hurricane was based on the Fury biplane and designed by Sydney Camm as a monoplane. It first flew on November 6, 1935. Its wide undercarriage, easy handling, reliability and stable gun platform made the Hurricane suitable for a number of different roles such as interceptor, ground strafing and night fighter. The steel tube construction meant that cannonballs could pass straight through the wood and cloth covering without exploding. The Hurricane underwent many modifications during its lifetime, including an upgraded Merlin engine and replaceable multi-role wings, mounted twelve 7.7mm cannons and two 40mm anti-tank guns, and carried two 500lb bombs.
The package includes a metal structure with several plastic components, realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details, printed markings and labels that do not peel off like stickers, opening cockpits revealing detailed cockpit interiors, interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear, authentic removable hubs complete with labels, and a pilot figure.
