High-quality metal model of the civil aircraft Ilyushin IL-18 Interflug with registration number DM-STO. The model is precisely and in detail processed according to the real aircraft.
The last of 16 Ilyushin IL-18s, DM-STO, entered service with Interflug, the East German state airline, in April 1968. In nearly 30 years of service, the main type of aircraft was a Soviet-made four-engine turboprop, used not only domestically, but also on long-distance lines to Havana and Beijing. The first examples, which were delivered from 1960, still flew in blue and with the well-known crane as Deutsche Lufthansa. Due to legal disputes with Lufthansa, which was revived in West Germany at the same time, the GDR established Interflug as a second airline. DM-STO appears in the red livery and Interflug livery introduced in 1963. In 1991 it continued to be operated by the short-lived BerLine, founded by ex-Interflug employees. After a short period of use by Bulgarian Air Zora, this IL-18 was used by Aero Caribbean in Cuba from 1995 until 2000, mainly on routes to neighboring countries in the Caribbean.
