The impressive aircraft was originally delivered by Lockheed in 1971 and service at Dover Air Force Base began in 1973. The following year the US Air Force undertook a unique test when this C-5A dropped an ICBM in flight. Forty years after taking up the service, the aircraft ended in 2013, and from now on can be admired as the largest exhibit in the Air Mobility Command Museum, also located in Dover. The General Electric TF39 engines and the version in the original white and gray livery are new. Metal chassis and rubber tires ensure a safe stand for this model made of resin.
