Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, trading name Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Limited. They are a Formula One racing team and a constructor (builder) of Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz debuted in Formula One in 1954 and competed with great success in the 1954 and 1955 seasons. After the 1955 season, Mercedes left the sport. Despite partial ownership and agreements with engine suppliers in the 1990s and 20th centuries, it did not return as a factory team until November 2009.
Mercedes has been supplying engines to the McLaren team since 1995. Mercedes-Benz, through its parent Daimler AG and in cooperation with Aabar Investments, concluded an agreement to purchase the Brawn GP team. Daimler would buy 45.1% of Brawn and Aabar 30%. The purchase would be subject to approval by the company and regulators. The Brawn team was formed when they bought the Honda Racing F1 team. Brawn won the drivers' and constructors' championships in 2009, his first and only season with the team.
