Product description

High-quality metal model of the Schneider H bus in green-beige color.

Transport company CGO, deprived of most of its buses by the war, had to design a new vehicle in order to refurbish its fleet. From the beginning of the war, designers thought about the production of a high-capacity bus based on many mechanical elements of the "PB 2" vehicle. The first test swallow was created already during the war. It was put into operation on June 1, 1916. The bus was designated Schneider H. The bus had a capacity of 38 seats (16 in the first class and 12 in the second + 10 standing places). It started operating on the Madeleine - Bastille route, then gradually other sections were served by a total of 38 lines. 4 during the war, 21 in 1919 and 13 in 1920. CGO ordered a total of 1269 units of this vehicle. The bus was described in the press as resolutely modern and heralding the future. It had electric lighting provided by dynamo and accumulators, it was equipped with dirt traps suspended from the wheel axles, with fairly good efficiency. It carried more people than pre-war buses.
