After the 250GT California went out of production, Ferrari had no longer produced any convertibles. The series resumed in October 1964, when the 275 GTS was presented alongside the 275 GTB berlinetta. Both used the same chassis and 3.3-liter engine, although the spyder was slightly less powerful. For the 275 GTS, Pininfarina created a compact and harmonious body design, which echoed the main characteristic features of the 330 GT 2 + 2 coupé released in 1963.
