Quality metal model of Alaska Airlines Lockheed Starliner L-1649A civil aircraft. Packaged on a pedestal with landing gear and antenna.
Commemorating the Alaska gold rush of the late 1800s, Alaska Airlines launched its "Golden Nugget Service" in the early 1960s. Not only was the new red and gold color presented, but the interior also appeared in red and gold tones. The flight attendants were dressed in period clothing, wearing long velvet skirts, wide hats and shirts with puffed sleeves. From 1962 to 1968, Alaska Airlines operated two L-1649s as part of its own route network and for military charter duties. This Starliner was later purchased by Lufthansa along with two others to restore it to airworthy condition. Unfortunately, the project has been halted and the future of the N7316C still remains uncertain.
