The Sukhoi Su-30 is a 4+ generation two-seat twin-engine multirole fighter aircraft developed in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. This is the next stage of development of the Su-27 type, with the aim of expanding its combat capabilities by the function of a fighter-bomber. The emphasis of the modifications was primarily on extending the range and using a wide range of anti-ground weapons. Thanks to the use of new technologies and materials, this highly valued combat machine is capable of destroying air and ground targets with a wide range of guided and unguided weapons in all weather conditions, day and night, and during intensive radio-electronic warfare.
Some variants of the Su-30 increase maneuverability by using a variable thrust vector of the engines' exit jets and thereby improve the aircraft's already excellent maneuverability. Interestingly, the modified version of the Su-30 is the first aircraft in the world that is capable of permanently increasing the speed above the speed of sound while flying vertically upwards. In 2015, the Air Force of the Russian Federation replaced the obsolete MiG-29 squadrons with Su-30SM aircraft, and the Russian Naval Aviation is replacing Su-24 combat aircraft with them.
