Limited 1000 pcs series of metal-plastic fighter military aircraft Panavia Tornado GR.1 Johnnie Walker "Still going strong", squadron No. 9 RAF, model includes plastic landing gear, stand and certificate.
As the oldest dedicated bomber squadron in the Royal Air Force, it was somewhat fitting that squadron no. The IX had the honor of becoming the world's first operational front-line Panavia Tornado unit when it was equipped with the GR.1 variant in June. 1982.
The Tornado was a highly advanced late-Cold War nuclear-capable attack and reconnaissance aircraft with potentially devastating capabilities, meaning at least four squadrons were typically based in Germany for much of its early service.
Tornado ZD748 was built as a GR.1 variant in 1984 and delivered to IX Squadron at RAF Brüggen on 8 October of that year, where she carried the code AK and was colloquially known as "Anola Kay".
