Despite the political connection with the Soviet Union, Poland’s national airline, Polski Linie Lotnicze, or LOT for short, time and again afforded western airplane types. In 1958, in spite of considerable opposition, the airline also purchased three Vickers Viscounts which were mainly operated to Western European destinations.
