High-quality metal model of the Boeing E-3D Royal Air Force Sentry AEW.1 - No. 8 Squadron, RAF Waddington - Operation Shader, RAF Akrotiri. The model is detailed and precisely processed according to the real machine.
Using new tools and molds, we are offering the E-3 Sentry in 1:500 scale for the first time in many years. When developing the new version, we not only had in mind the previous E-3A variant used by NATO and the US armed forces, but also the E-3F variant used by France, as well as the E-3D version - or AEW.1 as it is called in Great Britain. In addition to the new fuselage, revised CFM turbochargers were required for the D and F variants and other details were added. The British variant, in particular, has additional eye-catching sensor containers on the wingtips, as well as an air refueling hole above the cockpit. Seven E-3D Sentry entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1991 and were immediately deployed in support of air operations during the first Gulf War. The British AEW.1, more precisely our original with registration ZH101, flew its last mission over Iraq in 2021 as part of Operation Shader in the fight against ISIS. Aircraft from 8 Squadron were redeployed to Akrotiri Air Base in Cyprus, from where they performed valuable reconnaissance and command and control roles for ground and naval units.
