One of the best aircraft ever built in the Soviet Union was the Ilyushin IL-18. It delivered excellent performance – combining speed with range and reliability. The Polish airline Lot also had a number of these bestsellers in its fleet. From 1961 to 1990, up to nine IL-18s formed the backbone of the fleet. Built in 1964, the SP-LSF had an extended range, allowing it to be used on routes to Africa, among others, and remained in service until the 1980s. The model appears in the LOT version, with which it flew until 1977.
