The MiG-29, which was designed to help the Soviet Union achieve air superiority, first took off on October 6, 1977. The MiG-29, known as the "Fulcrum," has a high-mounted bubble shelter and twin-jet engines and large exhausts. It is armed with medium-range and short-range missiles and unguided weapons for land and sea surface targets. Even today, Fulcrum remains a strong adversary and will remain in operation for at least another decade.
