High-quality metal model of the Douglas KDC-10 Extender military aircraft - 334 Sqn, Eindhoven AB T-264 "Prins Bernhard".
On September 26, 2024, the last two KC-10 Extenders left Travis Air Force Base. Since 1980, the KC-10 has been a key asset to US and allied forces, airlift and aerial refueling missions around the world. The KC-10 could carry twice as much fuel as the older KC-135 and almost as much cargo as the C-17 Globemaster. To commemorate its retirement, Herpa is launching a small, three-model limited edition series of the trijet. The first model bears the insignia of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, the last US Air Force unit to operate the Extender (item no. 538367). The only foreign operator of the KC-10 was the Dutch Air Force, which has operated two examples as part of the 334th Squadron since 1995 – 30 years ago – in the role of air-to-air refueling for NATO partners, but has also deployed them on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions around the world. As part of a limited series resembling a three-jet tanker, this model appears in civilian livery in the color scheme it wore when delivered to the Dutch Armed Forces in 1995.
